Dolphin Class - News

Welcome to Dolphin class - we are Nursery and Reception and our teachers are:
Mr Allen
Mrs Beattie
Mrs Humble
We've joined the mission to get children outside. And here's why:

1. Today's children are spending less time outdoors and more time in front of screens.
2. Time spent outdoors has a proven positive impact on children's mental health and wellbeing.
3. Instilling an appreciation of the outdoors from an early age encourages an ongoing understanding of the natural environment and the need to protect it.
4. Outdoor learning and play helps to produce more creative, resilient and happy children.

On the 23rd May we will be celebrating Outdoor classroom day.

How we move.
We have been learning about how we move in Early years. This has involved us discovering methods of transport. Look at all the local ways we have found that we can travel around our local area.
Science Week
We took part in a whole school science week. We did some experiments and talked about what we could see happening. We also had a visit from Dr Science - we made slime, clouds  and a wind tunnel! It was very interesting and a lot of fun.
Easter fun
We invited our parents and carers in to decorate Easter eggs with us, it was a lot of fun. We worked together and then we chose a name for our egg.
Do you like our creations?
Safer Internet Day
On Tuesday 7th February we had internet safety day. We read a story about Smartie the Penguin who taught us what to do if we're unsure about something online we also learnt a song. We know that we must talk to an adult if we are worried about something online.
Beach School
It was a cold January afternoon and we went to Cambois beach for Beach School. We took part in lots of challenges - it was great fun!
Snow much fun!
We were very excited to see that it had snowed on Friday morning. Although there wasn't a great deal on the ground we decided to make the most of it - we wrapped up and ventured outside! Our faces show how much fun we had!
Giant footprints!
On Monday when we came into the classroom we saw two giant footprints! We really enjoyed thinking about who they belonged to - we shared our ideas with our friends. We thought it might be a dinosaur or a sea monster. This week we'll find out whose they are.
Christmas Tiddlywinks
We enjoyed a Tiddlywink Christmas party! We made a wish and mixed them into glitter before a special visitor joined us! We had a great time dancing to music and singing Christmas songs.
House of Objects / park
We visited the House of Objects and explored their workshop. We enjoyed many activities such as dressing up in amazing costumes, making clay models and exploring light and movement.
We also went to the park - we were very brave as we had to do some tricky climbing!

Alnwick Gardens
We went to Alnwick Gardens to visit Santa and Olaf! We were able to tell Santa what we'd like for Christmas. We also went ice skating!
Remembrance Day
We went to the war memorial to lay our poppy crosses. We had a short silence to remember the soldiers.
This is me!
As part of our new topic we painted pictures of ourselves. We used a mirror to check our eye colour. Do you like them? Can you guess who they belong to?
Empty! Please add a resource.

Summer Term 2019
Our topic this term is all about transport. Already we are reading stories about transport and we have been on the ferry from North to South Shields, the metro and airport. We have even visited Newcastle Central Station. We are learning about where we could go and the possibilities we could have on our travels.   May 2019
