Cambois Primary School receives an amount of money from the government which is ring fenced for sport. School sports are a big part of the curriculum at Cambois Primary School. We aim to use the money to increase participation, enjoyment and increasingly healthy lifestyles.
We tailor our curriculum around the needs of our children and families. We take part in local competitions and events hosted by the School Sports Partnership. As a school we take advantage of any sports based activities that are offered to the school too. We have had visits from the Newcastle United Football Club Foundation and had cycling with some of the British Cycling team members in previous years.
We believe the aims of Sport and PE at Cambois is centred around promoting fundamental movements and participation. We want children to identify the importance of exercise and the benefits to health and well-being.

By 31 July each year, schools are required to publish the percentage of pupils in their year 6 cohort who have met the national curriculum requirement to:
swim competently, confidently and proficiently over a distance of at least 25 metres
use a range of strokes effectively – for example, front crawl, backstroke and breaststroke
perform safe self-rescue in different water-based situations
By the end of the summer term in 2026:
13% of year 6 pupils (15 pupils) could swim competently, confidently and proficiently over a distance of at least 25 metres
26% could use a range of strokes effectively – for example, front crawl, backstroke and breaststroke
13% could perform safe self-rescue in different water-based situations
