P.E and Beach School

Our P.E days in Year 3 and 4 are Tuesday and Wednesday. Please make sure you come into school in the correct P.E kit.

On Tuesday's we attend beach school. As the weather becomes colder please ensure your children are appropriately dressed.
Beach school sessions will begin again in January.
Clogging
A group of children from KS1 through to UKS2 have been selected to take part in a clogging project funded by Music Partnership North. The purpose of the project is not only to use music and dance to introduce the children to a new skill, but to also improve children's mental health and well-being in turn in turn improving their self-confidence, engagement and achievement. The children have had two taster sessions and will begin the project fully after Christmas. The project is due to take place fortnightly on a Wednesday with sessions lasting 1 hour. Following the taster session, the feedback from the children was very positive and the children cannot wait to start. Hopefully we shall see the children putting on a show for all the parents and the community.

Beach School

We are very fortunate to be able to access 'beach school' each Tuesday morning with South Shields Surf School.
We love spending our Tuesday mornings on the fantastic beach we have so close to school!

Our beach school mornings are filled with fun activities which link to our curriculum at school and allow us to learn in an outdoor environment. This term in beach school we have been learning all about forces and the Iron Age which links to our history and science topics. We even learnt how to greet someone in Welsh.

Beach school will resume after Christmas when the weather becomes a bit warmer.
Surfing the Moon Author Workshop
We had a super morning during our author workshop. This term in literacy we have been reading the story Surfing the Moon and have completed lots of work around the book. We were very lucky to have a zoom call with the author, we asked lots of questions and even completed moon drawings.
Art and DT
In our art lessons we have been learning all about Impressionism and the different impressionist artists. The children have had lots of fun creating art work using the impressionist techniques. In DT we have been looking at structures and bridges. The children have investigated what makes a structure strong and stable. The children then designed and created their own freestanding structure that had a strong base and could support 3 biscuits. The children then evaluated their structure. The children have also designed and built their own bridges as a team that were able to hold toy cars. Currently in DT we have been challenged to build a 3d freestanding structure that is 30cm tall.
Forces - Autumn 1
In Science we have recently been learning all about forces. During our science lessons we have been testing forces using magnets and Newtons meters.
Animals Including Humans- Autumn 2

The children really enjoyed making a giant skeleton by matching all of the bones.
Creative Habits

In our class we have been working on building our creative habits such as collaboration and imagination. We have carried out lots of activities to support and develop these habits.
